Heathcliff EstatesThe fancy mansion-esque houses recently added in for the owners and managers of Sheridan Mining group. Up until about five years ago, this area was almost entirely forest. Many locals resent the attack on the land and some think the forest resents it too.
DowntownThe main shopping and community district of the town, with old buildings and a few re-purposed factories. Buildings in this area likely have creaky floors and pipes, and may or may not have a few ghosts...
Old CrossThe area of town where the largest proportion of Isaneqwe tribe members live. Houses here range from as old as the town to recent additions made in the 90s.
Gardenview A picturesque housing development began in the fifties when the first new immigrants arrived. It is a quaint area filled with cute, inexpensive houses. The population is quite well mixed but consists mainly of 'foreigners' born outside of town. The locals don't see much difference between an outsider from Portland and an outsider from the next star system.
Public Areas
Town SquareA rather large town square with normal street around the border to allow traffic through, and a cobblestone public area in the center with a gazebo and a large wishing fountain.
Tamlynn ParkA park with picnic areas, a playground, a dog park, and a baseball diamond.
Xander's Cross FairgroundA large flat field where tall grass and weeds grow when the field is not in use.
Landscape
Mount Aisenana
A mountain known for the way it shines silver during the full moon. It is in the center of the three that touch the city, on the Southwest corner.
Mount Oi'yarroana
A mountain riddled with caves that house bears and other wildlife (Nokahni/Canterwin Caves). This is the Southeastern mountain.
Mount Haihanana
A mountain where dark birds nest. This is the Northwestern mountain.
Nokahni/Canterwin CavesThese caves are referred to by the Isaneqwe people as Nokahni Caves but those of European descent call them the Canterwin caves. The caves are often home to wildlife of all shapes and sizes, and some burrow so deep into the mountain that explorers have been lost there. The European population's name for them, Canterwin, comes from the last name of brothers who vanished there during the gold rush.
Portleche Forest
The forest shrouds one full side of the city, and creeps along the border of the mountain as well, cordoning Xander's Cross away from the rest of the world.
