The people in the house were most certainly going to hear the rumble of that Harley, and if her mother was home, she could already picture Brenda Anderson sticking her head in the window, trying to be sly looking around those curtains. If she didn’t want her mother asking questions, she was going to have to hurry this up.
She looked at the house as he said it was cute, and she had to agree. Her parents had worked hard in the upkeep of the older home. Especially with three boys and a wild daughter. It wasn’t perfect, but it was home. She turned her head to see his head turn. Feeling those dark eyes on her even with the helmet on. She reached up, unwrapping her arms from around his middle, and placed them on his shoulders before she climbed off the bike. She removed one of her hands but kept on his shoulder for that moment. A part of her not yet wanting to let him go, and wanting that connection still. She glanced at the front window and didn’t see movement, so she allowed for a bit more time. “Yeah, I’ll be okay.” She said softly, though she knew he could hear her. She squeezed his shoulder and then reached up to remove the helmet before strapping it onto the back of the bike for him.
Since her ponytail was loosened now from the helmet, she just pulled the hair tie out and ran a hand quickly through her blonde hair before she got the skateboard. “Thanks for the ride.” She told him with a small smile. “And for indulging me with dinner.” She added. She took a step up onto the curb. Her green eyes flickered back to the house before they rested on his helmet. She didn’t like that she couldn’t see his face but was going to have to get over. “You know where to find me now if you ever get lonely.” She hooked a thumb behind her at the house. “And I do mean it, Cal. You can fight it all you want, and want to be alone, but if you need anything….” She was putting the offer out there. That friendship grapevine if he wanted. The one that offered him being near his own kind rather than his squishy human that could only do so much. “I’ll be here.” She told him earnestly. Maybe it was the bond of being in the service that didn’t want her fellow soldier to be alone, or the fact he was also a lone wolf, or the need to take in strays, but Paige meant what she said.
“Aaaanyways,” She grinned. She lightly punched his arm. “Now you’ve had the Paige Anderson Welcome to Xander’s Cross. Only took a year to get it.” She mused. She started to take a few steps back then, not wanting to keep him much longer.
