Xander's Cross, Oregon: a small town ringed with forbidding mountains and misty forest. The sky may be gray, but the townspeople are welcoming to people of all kinds...and things that are not quite human as well. Here the native shifters, aliens, werewolves, and witches live in peace. They have yet to find out the new business owners encroaching on the land are also vampires.
The peace has been broken by murder, however, and things in Xander's Cross are about to become quite a bit darker.

The mayor, Rowan Starkwood, was found dead less than a mile from his home. Rumors say his body was mutilated, but the state of the body has not yet been released to the public.

Fashion: Nathan's style is very utilitarian. Functional. Not meant to make a statement but rather to let him blend into the background. Button up, collared shirts (never buttoned all the way up) in plain colors are his only concession to professionalism. The shirts are worn and would probably look better if ironed (they aren't) and dark slacks or jeans. Workman boots. Everything is at least 2 years out of style.
Physical Description: Tall, lean, and muscular. The rest of him bears the appearance of a man who no longer gives a shit and he is often sporting a thin stubble as he forgets to shave. All in all: his appearance is that of a good, straight man roughed around the edges as though he's always in need of a decent nights sleep. Compass tattoo on right forearm.

Description: A good man at heart, Nathan has been through hard times that tested that goodness. Still, through everything, he is still good. He is friendly if not exactly open. He will often put others needs ahead of his own.
Habits/Hobbies: Loves Star Wars. Cooking (breakfast food especially).
-Background-
History: Nathan was a good guy once. A normal guy. 'Boring' some might have said. 'Reliable', for others. 'Loyal' was the common take. A 'romantic' as well. He became a cop like his father and his father's father and so on. It all changed when his girlfriend, Tessa, died. Nathan knew something strange had happened but he couldn't explain it without sounding crazy. No one would have believed him. So he looked into it alone long after her death had been declared a suicide. When he became obsessed with the supernatural, people talked. When his drinking grew out of control, he was warned. Eventually he was put on suspension. When he was caught breaking into a morgue, he was let go.
Following rumors and legends, Nathan found a place and, by coincidence, a job opening.
